The Bacon Fairy

I know what you’re thinking: A fairy who comes through your window at night and leaves bacon under your pillow, right? But no, this is even more strange. We have discovered a website called Gale’s Gifts, where Gale sells a wide variety of kooky knick-knacks, including Aunt Jemima salt & pepper shakers, John Deere napkin holders and ice buckets (for that bottle of Cold Duck you’ve been saving for a special occasion), and of course, Dreamcatchers. This is just the kind of website that grandmothers all over the world have been waiting for. The most intriguing item, however, is...

Bacon Crochet

If you’ve never heard of Twinkie Chan, then I urge you to rush right over to Scene 360 and check out the interview with this yarn genius! She is absolutely amazing. Twinkie has a mind-blowing talent for creating food-inspired scarves ranging from cupcakes to green salad to pepperoni pizza. I can honestly say I’ve never been so awe-struck by something crocheted. I won’t attempt to do the interview justice here, you’ll just have to go check it out yourself. If your interest is not yet piqued, check out the bacon & eggs scarf.   You can learn more and...

Bacon Poetry

At The Morning News, we found a dynamic duo of cartoon and verse: Baby’s First Internet. With images by Kean Soo and text by Kevin Fanning, this cartoon series is a charming instruction manual for surviving in the wide, wide world of web. You’ll be hooked in no time. Here’s a sampling that seemed to be poking adorable fun at RBS and the bacon blog community....

Bacon Cheeseball

I have never in my life considered making a cheeseball. Until now. My memories of cheeseballs include unnaturally orange Wisconsin “cheddar” rolled in chopped nuts of some sort. Probably walnuts. Gross. This looked to be the same type of cheese you could find in a crock. And crock cheese is not, in my estimation, cheese at all. I love cheese, maybe more than I love bacon, so I’ve got very strong opinions on these matters. That said, my friend Christine has once again given me reason to reconsider a classic. This holiday cheeseball recipe from the Houston Chronicle encourages you...

A Bacon & Eggs Renaissance

Everywhere you look these days, the partnership between bacon & eggs is being celebrated. Easily bacon’s most common companion, the egg has a sunny attitude that perfectly complements bacon’s crispy outlook. Here are a few great items for the upcoming gifting season. The Sunny Side Up Tee from Urban Outfitters. The Bacon & Egg Bag from Perpetual Kid.   We’re all familiar by now with bacon bandages, but these Bacon and Egg Bandages from Spitfire Girl take it a step farther. Those little egg bandages would be the perfect thing to ward off a heel blister while you break...

Bacon v Fries

And you thought the race between Obama and McCain was tough. Can you imagine having to choose between Bacon and Fries? Although clearly, the more versatile candidate won. Somehow I just knew Bacon was a Dem.   via lazerdave’s Flickr...

Bacon Pumpkin Pie

My friend Christine sent me this recipe months ago, but I decided it really had to be saved for Thanksgiving. And now that November is here, the recipe sharing can commence. This pie is unique in many ways. First off, it has a graham cracker crust rather than a traditional pie crust. Score. Next, it calls for fresh pumpkin rather than the easy canned stuff I always use. Sounds challenging, but fun! Also, there’s cream cheese, possibly the best spreadable substance ever invented. And finally, 16, count ’em, 16 slices of maple bacon. Astounding! The pie got mixed reviews...

Home of the Free, Land of the Bacon

Marianne couldn’t post today…she’s going to spend all day voting. Or at least that’s what she WANTS to do. She’ll probably spend the entire day and night watching election coverage, so I offered to fill in for her. On this Election Day, I thought I’d offer up a product for all your patriotic and bacon-loving pets. Sure, it looks like a dog food bowl, but in the spirit of cooperation, I’m going to say this would make a great gift for your favorite dog or cat! It’s the bacon flag pet bowl, and it says a whole mouthful with...

Bacon Doughnuts

Mother of Pearl, this one’s good! Vanessa from What Geeks Eat knows how to make doughnuts, a skill not yet perfected by Husband and me. We’ve tried a couple times with miserable results, but this new recipe gives me hope. A bacon doughnut with maple glaze is just inspiration I need. Just take in the beauty of this creation. Vanessa includes full instructions for this and the classic doughnut. It’s certainly more complicated than the bacon cinnamon roll, but probably worth the extra effort. And now can you imagine this sucker with a cheeseburger on...
