I don’t know if you remember the series Pete & Pete from early-90s Nickelodeon. That show was a trip, a bit surreal with lots of jokes that went over the intended audience’s heads. I was in my 20s when this show came out, but I worked with kids and caught a number of episodes. The thing I remember most was that Michael Stipe and Kate Pierson both appeared on the show from time to time. But this may have been the most star-studded kids program ever, even more so than Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Both Steve Buscemi and Iggy Pop were regulars, and the list of guest appearances is about a mile long.
Anyhow, that was a lengthy introduction to this short but super sweet clip from Pete & Pete.

I have to say that when I think of Japanese food, bacon may be the very last thing that comes to mind. Fish eyes, whale blubber, shellfish reproductive organs and dried squid all scream Japan to me. Can anyone tell me exactly what is going on here?

This is Jim Gaffigan, and by far the best rambling monologue ever delivered on the subject of bacon.

Wow. I’m overwhelmed by my love of the website I’m about to share with you. The Bacon page of the Uncyclopedia is far and away the best time suck I’ve experienced this month. Maybe this year. Possibly this century. Beyond the vast mountain of funformation about bacon, there are about a million links to other equally fascinating subjects, like the Kool-Aid Man, sharks and Scientology. Not to mention that they totally corroborate my story about the Earl of Sandwich and the BLT. Why they forgot to include the Earl of Bacon in the article I cannot imagine.
Ever wondered about the important role that bacon has played in the realms of literature or Russian History? You’ll find your answers here. Are you aware of the atrocities committed on bacon by Benito Mussolini? Inquiring minds will finally know. I’ll cut this post short because its going to take you the next 4 days to tear yourself away from the Uncyclopedia. When you finally do, come on back to the Society, where the bacon never ends…

When these little guys first hit the scene, I was fascinated. And given the success of their Quizno’s commercial, just think what they could do for our friend bacon!
